Industrial Engineering Information

The documents below will help you engineer polyethylene pipe for industrial applications. Plastic pipes are not more difficult to engineer than metallic pipes once their basic material behavior is understood. HDPE's lighter weight, lower modulus values and flexibility offer capabilities not possible with metallic pipes.

Plastic Pipe Institute Software
In promoting the use of polyethylene pipe in various applications, the Plastic Pipe Institute (PPI) provides the following software as an aid to the preliminary calculation and design of PE piping systems.
S-1 (2011) PPI BoreAid   (Horizontal Directional Drilling Calculator)
S-2 (2011) PPI Calculator  (HDPE Design and Installation Calculator)

Plastic Pipe Institute Handbook
The Plastic Pipe Institute® Handbook of Polyethylene Pipe is a comprehensive guide to the use of smoothwall HDPE pipe and its applications. The handbook is available in PDF format at www.plasticpipe.org. For convenience, we have secured permission from PPI to activate hyperlinks to individual chapters.

Field Handbook
This Field Handbook contains selected information that has been excerpted and summarized from several Performance Pipe publications including the Performance Pipe Engineering Manual, technical notes, various product and application bulletins, recommended heat fusion procedures and other publications. This handbook is intended only as a quick reference aid.
